This song specifically and this album are the cure for a snakebite, especially since losing my Dad this past October. He taught me everything I know about training horses, dogs, hunting and fishing...so this one stung on the first listen because it's exactly the same relationship I had with the Old Man....But, with every play over it's slowly healing the wound of the loss, which is to be expected with Felker and the boys. This was the best surprise I didn't know I needed. I tip my hat to you fellows for this one, it's one of the finest albums you've put together.

Sat on the bank of the Red and listened to this yesterday. My dad, my brother and I would camp out down on the banks when he was in from Nam. Lost My bro 6 years ago & my dad last year. Now it's just me down at the Red River remembering the good times. Great song. Thanks, Evan, from a McCurtain county resident.

My dad was a cattleman from southern Iowa/born in Northern Missouri. We lost him in a farming accident 16 years ago. Evan and Turnpike have been a part of our continued relationship from the great beyond for several years now.

This is the greatest band and I can't wait to see them again at the Tristate rodeo in Fort Madison, Iowa in September.

God bless. Happy Easter to all.

Man all I can think about is how much my dad would have loved this band, song, and video 🥲😢

The instrumentation is delicate, with guitars that don’t weep, but whisper. It’s the kind of song you listen to in the cab of a truck as the sun sets, and every word cuts straight through your chest.

Evan Felker’s voice doesn’t dramatize—it tells. And in that telling, it hits you with harsh truths. It’s a hymn for those of us who have seen not only loved ones die, but also entire ways of living that left with them.

Listened to this song while running along a levee in view of the Red River. Top 10 moment of this year for sure. Love this new album.

Song hit me harder than expected. Cried on the first listen. My papaw is nearing the end of his life, but his dementia has progressed so fast and now he doesn’t know anyone anymore. My parents were good people, but they were young and dumb. My papaw really set me straight and taught me so much about the world, and how to be a good man. He was a good union brother, president of his local for a time, and loved everyone and looked out for them all. Even when my mom, his daughter in law, became an addict and stole all of my valuables and money—he never once said a bad word about her, and told me to remember that she’s still human and the world is full of people who make really bad mistakes. He helped me forgive her later in life. And now it’s like we’ve lost him but he’s still physically here. I love him so much.

This song is everything in my childhood wrapped up in a neat bundle and oh, how it stings because those days are gone. These memories are bittersweet and though they hurt, I’m glad to have found this song and live them again.

Felt like checking out the new turnpike album. Did not expect to be bawling my eyes out by the end of the first song. Wow. Easily their most emotionally moving work, and that’s already been a high bar.

Awesome album! Also, it’s pretty clever how he gives a nod to Old Crow Medicine Show in the second verse. Since Ketch helped write the song, I guess. :) good stuff!!!

Good Lord this song breaks my heart. My dad's been gone for over 20 years now and I still miss him. But death didn't take the best part of him. I still got that. All y'all boys that ain't got your daddy anymore, you ain't alone.

Lost my dad 16 years ago today when I was 11 years old, still think about him every day. This song definitely hurts a bit to listen to, but also kinda hopeful since I know he would be pretty damn proud to see what I've become.
