Giorgia Meloni, Italy’s prime minister and leader of a party with neo-fascist origins, was greeted during a speech in Rimini with some delegates singing the protest song at her arrival.

Meloni was speaking during a convention of the three main Italian unions, CGIL, CISL, and UIL when some unionists sang the song and left the hall with their fists raised. Bella Ciao originated among the hardships of female paddy field workers in the late 19th century and became the anthem of the Italian resistance movement by partisans opposing fascism in the second world war. It has since become a hymn of freedom and resistance.

I love how when she spoke the just stopped signing. The Italians are either very polite or they fear her.

Just to give some non-italian the context of the song they're singing:
Bella Ciao is a tune sung during italian resistence in WW2, a song that talks about a guy waking up in the morning only to find his country invaded, he goes fighting the invader, and dies for his country in doing so.
For some reason, the "patriotic" right-wing hates this song😂

10/10 for the spirit, 1/10 for the singing skills.

She tried so hard to not look affected by the chant but you can see it got right under her skin.

We play this song at work all the time (I work at an Italian gelateria in Glasgow) and I had no idea it was anti facist

edit:
some people seem to keep commenting on my ignorance. some people also need to touch grass

Bruh... she's not even my mom or anything but that stare made me get up from bed and do my assignments.

She looks like a disappointed substitute teacher from a school, one of the ones who just stand there and wait instead of asking a class to be quiet XD

When you consider a anti-facist song as a challenge, you are definitly doing things wrong

To the public this song is a symbol of hope. To a HoI4 player, this song brings fear and despair.

Not truly grateful to those who challenge her. Body language said it loud and clear.

Weird, it's like we've all done this already and had the greatest and most destructive conflict in human history to decide as a species that it wasn't the way to go.
