Lee is one of the nation's leading immigration and Asian American historians and has published several widely acclaimed books, including "The Making of Asian America: A History." Lee teaches at the University of Minnesota where she holds the Rudolph J. Vecoli Chair in Immigration History, among other distinctions.

Such a shocking history of severe discrimination - even to me, and I'm already familiar with a lot of Asian American history. It's even worse that this hatred, contempt, revulsion, and seeing as inferior lives on today - worse than ever. 3 centuries of disgust and stigma hasn't lifted at all. She's right that the Chinese are seen as worse than ANY group in the US - and today, more than ever. This disgust and denial is reflected by the huge number of downvotes for this excellent talk.
