We had a deaf girl in my English class and my teacher did a whole week of allowing the interpreter teach us basic sign so we could greet her and get to know more about the deaf community. It was very informative and we had a lot of fun. Really got to know that girl a lot better. Before that she really didn’t associate much with anyone in our class but after that it was very different. I appreciated that class and that teacher for deciding to do that when she didn’t have to

Whispering in someone’s ear is just uncomfortable in general. Not to mention being deaf because you would have trouble hearing them but like.. anyone get chills down their spine when someone whispers in their ear? And not in a good way 😭

Am hearing. ASL skills have deteriorated from lack of use. Woman heard me talking to co-worker how much I love ASL. Later see her 20' away mouthing words at me. So I go ask, "What's going on?" Her reply, "You said you know sign language so I was testing if you can really read lips."
