ΜΟΥΝΤΑΔΟΣ
Πολύ κοντά στη Χώρα της Τήνου, 6 μόλις χλμ. από το λιμάνι της, συναντάμε το πρώτο μικρό αλλά πολύ γραφικό χωριό, τον Μουντάδο, που έχει χαρακτηριστεί «Παραδοσιακός Οικισμός». Χρονολογείται εδώ και 1000 τουλάχιστον χρόνια και βρίσκεται κάτω από το Μοναστήρι, στους πρόποδες του Κεχροβουνίου, αγγίζοντας σχεδόν την πανέμορφη καταπράσινη λαγκαδιά που σχηματίζεται εκεί που το Κεχροβούνι συναντιέται με τον Κολοκυθά. Έχουν μείνει πια λίγοι αλλά εξαιρετικά φιλόξενοι κάτοικοι.
Η κυκλαδίτικη αρχιτεκτονική του σε καθηλώνει από την πρώτη ματιά. Τα πεντακάθαρα, στενά και κάτασπρα πλακόστρωτα δρομάκια του, με τις καμάρες να διαδέχονται η μία την άλλη και τα πετρόκτιστα παλιά σπίτια συνθέτουν μια μαγική εικόνα.
Δικαίως επονομάζεται «Χωριό των σοφών», για την έμφυτη φιλοσοφική προδιάθεση των Μουνταδιανών. Ήταν αρκετά αναπτυγμένος σε τέχνες και γράμματα. Είναι ένα από τα λίγα χωριά της Τήνου που λειτουργούσε σχολαρχείο. Από εδώ κατάγονται πολλοί ξεχωριστοί άνθρωποι, με σημαντική προσφορά στην ιστορία της Τήνου, αλλά και της Ελλάδος. Είναι χωριό της οικογένειας Παξιμάδη, φιλικών της Επανάστασης, των Αδελφών Γεωργίου, Εμμανουήλ και Ιωάννου Λαμπάκη (πανεπιστημιακού, ζωγράφου και φωτογράφου αντίστοιχα), του ιερέως και αγιογράφου Γεωργίου Κονταρίνη (1720 περ. - 1758), του χαράκτη και γλύπτη Ιωάννου Πλατή, της αρχαιολόγου και πανεπιστημιακού Λίλας Μαραγκού κ.α.

Mountados
Near the main city of Tinos, 6 km. from the port, we find the first small, but picturesque village named Mountados, which has been declared as a “traditional settlement”. Dating back at least 1000 years, Mountados is situated below the Monastery, at the foot of Kehrovouni mountain reaching the beautiful green valley. Nowadays, the villagers are just a few but they are known for their hospitality and kindness.
The Cycladic architecture of the old stone houses combined with the narrow cobbled whitewashed streets and the arches that follow one after the other, compose a magical image. 
The philosophical predisposition of its villagers is the reason why Mountados is rightly called “Village of the wise”. It was well developed in arts and letters, and one of the few villages with the privilege of a school. Many special people with a significant contribution to the history of the island and Greece originate from Mountados, like Paximadis family which contributed to the Greek revolution. Well- known artist of their time where also came from the village, like Emmanuel and John Lampakis, George Platis and George Kontarinis. Furthermore, the academician George Lampakis and the nowadays archaeologist- academician Lila Maragkou are originated from Mountados.

Traditional events
St John’s festival: Ιt takes place twice a year. During winter, on January 7 and during summer, on June 24 when the villagers celebrate with a glorious feast, which lasts all night. Τhe food made by the housewives of Mountados, is admittedly delicious. Dancing in the rhythm of violins and lutes while having traditional drinks makes it a cheerful day for everyone in the village. The joys of life are hidden within the simplest things.
On Easter Sunday, after the evening prayer: Τhe residents of Mountados walk through the village, holding Christian icons. The event includes treat of sweet cheese pie, a traditional dessert and local drinks like raki. 
On Easter Tuesday, the “Marantisma” of Gyrla: Αll villagers and nearby residents gather to the church of Saints Anargiroi. After the Christian liturgy, they eat altogether, sharing what they have brought with them, sing and enjoy this special traditional experience.
From August 1 to 15, the days before the Assumption of Virgin Mary: Every afternoon the villagers gather in the chapel of Panayitsa (Virgin Mary) for the prayer and then follow lenten food by the commissioners.
