Nice to hear a stereo version. I have the original vinyl single from 1962 but needless to say it is Mono.

Hello Sheila, I knew I'd meet you here!

This is so close a rip of Buddy Holly & his sound, that it suggests that Holly could have continued having hits well into the 60s. He wrote his own stuff and already had the classic guitars, bass and drums set-up. Above all he could write some killer tunes.

Drummer, Jerry Allison of the Crickets. This is one of the records I have. The mono version is better because the drums really stand out. Jerry Allison, Buddy's former drummer does the backbeat on both the stereo and mono versions.

The also excellent original is on Judd from 1960. The Buddy Holly-style treatment came from producer Felton Jarvis. I consider this one of the best singles of the early 1960s by an artist who proved to be far more diversified than his bubble-gum image.

Tommy quit his full-time job at General Electric ($65/wk.) to go under a record contract.
