I'm at the Khewra Salt Mine in Jhelum, Pakistan to see where they actually extract "Himalayan" pink salt.

Make sure you’re getting your iodine folks! I had a guy a worked with switch to pink salt thinking it was better for his family. His daughter began to have all kinds of weird problems like getting light headed and fainting. Doctors couldn’t figure out what was wrong until a blood test revealed low iodine counts. He went back to regular salt for her major meals and she was fine.

Visited this place earlier this year. Pretty informative on the tour they gave us inside the mine itself.

The salt is pink because it has iron oxide (basically rust) in it. Otherwise, it's just rock salt. There are no special nutrients in it and it doesn't have iodine, so make sure you take a supplement or just eat plenty of dark, leafy greens.

We get this pink salt for like €3 a pack . I am sure these workers don't even get 10% of that. They should be the one getting the fair share .

Thank all of you for working hard so we can have salt.

Pink salt is cheaper than sea salt in pakistan coz sea salt has to get processed and iodine added to it which makes it more costly to make while you just pick up the pinksalt or himalayan salt from the ground and call it a day.

We take stuff like this for granted. Hard work just for some table salt is actually so dope.
