A Young Viewer Sent Me a Watch to Restore!

Marshall is given a very nice gift from a 10-year-old viewer of the channel, a Doxa dress watch from the 1950s! Alexa watches the videos here on the channel and thought I would like the dial of the watch, so she and her dad sent it to me. Even though they said Marshall could keep it, he has other plans for the watch :)

Hey All, I hope you enjoy the video! I got an update from Alexa and her father and they got the watch back and she loves it! As a reminder, I do not solicit through youtube comments, so if anyone contacts you via the comments here it's not coming from me, so please disregard and report! Thanks! Marshall

This young viewer is going to treasure this watch forever! She not only gets a fantastic time piece but also a video she can watch and show her friends. How cool is that?!

You get many comments on the 'watchmaking', but few seem to appreciate the camera work that goes into these videos! The angles you use, the close ups allowing us to witness in real time what you are doing, the narrative, the end edit, often using 'before' and 'after' shots after getting a replacement part in an instant - sheer genius, thank you Marshall...

You are the “Bob Ross” of watch repair! You have a gift. It is quite soothing. Thank you!

Marshall, you seem to be underestimating your channel. My daughter and I watch it regularly and are always very excited when a new movie comes out. She is 7 years old. And today she was even more happy when she found out that there is a similar girl out there who watches your channel with her dad. Thank you very much and best regards.

I'm 16 and have recently started getting into watches and watchmaking. YouTubers like you truly help the process and open the door for this complicated world. I appreciate what you do, thank you Marshall!

I believe I've finally figured out what makes your videos so alluring. The fact that you have the ability to show your audience a process that is very tedious and frustrating to many, all the while showing us how to handle each unique situation with the patience and grace that such situations require. It's a simple recipe that you have nailed! Not to mention your obvious knowledge and skills with your cameras and editing, to which I have no idea.

I'm convinced that the success of your channel depends on your passionate and sympathetic way of explaining what you do and why you love your hobby. Your taste for quirky and fun time pieces just makes it even more interesting. So many thanks for your brilliant videos.

I just wanted to say thank you for your videos. It’s not that I’m particularly into watches or restoring them, but your videos are really calming to me and I love watching them

I love the fact you often start replacing a screw by going in the 'wrong' direction initially to get the thread to align correctly. Shows great mechanical 'sympathy' and aligns with your other mechanical history. I was hoping you would send it back and hope the young recipient of it appreciates it and bookmarks this video. Always a pleasure to watch. It is unusual today that anyone will watch a 46-60 minute video but I find these mesmerising. Well done.

I think you nailed it when you were talking about watching shows that you learn from. That's what so interesting. Whether it be watchmaking, engine rebuilding, steel making or how to bake a cake. Watching someone who's mastered their art and craft is very alluring.
