There’s nothing the mayor can do about it. School Districts in Texas are called “Independent School District” for a reason. The school district is “Independent” from the local government (city and county). The city/county have no say in how the school district is ran. ISDs only answer to the state, which is the Texas Education Agency. ISDs are literally a governmental entity. That’s why they have the power to issue a bond before voters without the consent of the city or county.

It's not a good plan, in my opinion. Our school librarians are so important. There should be one in every school. I agree that we do need stricter discipline in schools, but let's not use our beautiful libraries as punishment centers.
