Apollo 10’s Mysterious ‘Moon Music’ Was Radio Interference | Video

Every decade or so, someone “rediscovers” that moon-bound astronauts heard whining “musical” audio in their headphones on a couple of the early Apollo missions. These sounds were most likely frequency-sweeping radio interference from the VHF rangefinder used to help the Apollo Command Module and Lunar Module keep track of one another. Presented here: Excerpts from the Apollo-10 in-flight recordings in which the crew make reference to these events.

Make you wonder what was in those brownies.

The Dark Side of the Moon reference seemingly lost to another generation. All you touch and all see is all your life will ever be.

In the humming you can hear music box like sounds. So clearly Jupiters magnetosphere interacted with their communication equipment causing it to glitch and hum and one of them had a music box that he was playing with while he ate brownies.

God. Tinfoil hat people crack me up.

Yes these were classified. However, not until 2008. They were officially declassified in 1973.

What's really weird is all this noise about a classified insignificance.

I don’t believe a word about it being radio interference.

In science the term "dark" is used in reference to being unseen or unknown as in dark matter or dark energy and does not describe the amount of light radiated or reflected.

Call me crazy, but I can't hear any music, "outer space type" or otherwise. Unless that continuous high pitched mechanical drone going on the background is the "music", in which case me and Captain Mitchell have very different definitions of the word. Any chance anyone has isolated the headphone audio?

Took a bit before my hearing filtered out the main noise. Those astronauts were used to it longer than I care, to adjust to the noise, to more clearly hear the whisteling.
With a proper spectrogram it should probably show clearly as its not on the same tone frequency as the main noise.

I've known Bob Jacobs for years, the info he gave me ALWAYS checked out with other sources.

All i can think of is some of Jim Carrey's (adlibbed!) lines in _Dumb & Dumber_:
"Hey, you want to hear the most annoying sound in the world?"

Is that message aimed at us? Thanks for the video.

That sounded like nothing but noise. I think the astronauts would be able to tell the difference.

the sound they are hearing is coming from the stars and planets. they produce energy that makes sound but we cant hear it. but apollos radios were picking it up

Radio interference? From what source?

These radio interferences existed only on the back side, but not on the front side of the moon? That's quite strange.

I love how people want to believe there's aliens on the moon. there definitely are other forms of life in the universe but I'm pretty Damn sure that no life for beyond bacteria would wanna live on the moon.
