I think a lot of media these days actually pressures girls to be more masculine. Also, a lot of "strong female" characters are really just depicted as women who have bad attitudes, are very physically fit, and probably know how to shoot a gun with pinpoint accuracy (at least in action movies lol). Girls shouldn't be made to feel bad for being girly any more than they should for being tomboyish. I for one am plenty of both, and tend to get mocked for being girly sometimes but never for being tomboyish.

I am grateful that you addressed this "i am not like the other girls" mess. I used to be like that lol. I would love for you to do other videos.

I'm not a cool girl or a girly girl... I'm just a girl who sits in my room all day watching YouTube and playing video games... what would I be called? xD

cool girl = low in drama. you can be angry or emotional but you have to know how to communicate your needs.

I enjoyed that AsapTHOUGHT made a video like this. It obviously sparks a discussion in the comment section and it is a controversial topic. But that's what this channel is about, it's THOUGHT, meaning they can project their ideas in a video and expect backlash...good for them.

I found her constant use of the word patriarchy annoying, and wanting to tell her she was wrong, but i had to think really hard to come up with counterpoints. then i thought "why am i trying so hard to do this?" and i think its because as a man it makes me defensive, and i think a lot of men get this and assume she must be wrong. but try to keep an open mind, and remember that just because we live in a patriarchy doesnt mean being a man is bad, or that you, a male are bad.

girl power is a great thing to be apart of. lets all be friends and stop letting society pin us against each other.

I agree that sometimes "cool girls" give women disparaging labels themselves, when having compassion for other women doesn't actually diminish but add to the coolness factor.
But you're a really cool girl Sel! Hope to see more of you in future videos.

Once again, I love how ASAP is bringing into discussion these topics that aren't discussed and expressing y'all's interests and individuality! Keep up the good work!

Sel, you did such a great job with the presentation of info and coming up with possible solutions! Let's dismantle the patriarchy!

Denying that there is a patriarchy is like denying that the world is round...

This really resonated with me. This is really the trap I fell into as a teenager, when I had only contempt for femininity and women in general, and tried to get male approval (albeit not in a sexual sense) through being more typically masculine and anti-feminine. At the time I would have told you that patriarchy was bullshit and that women experiencing sexism should just sort it out by being less feminine. Only with the distance of time and a more experienced view of gender and life can I see how stupid (and harmful) my views were.
