We spend 7 mil a day for illegal migration but we don’t have 20 mil to protect our coasts from erosion

I live in a coastal town which has a main railway line passing right along the coast on a large embankment. They have had to keep adding large boulders every year as the embankment is getting battered each winter.

All can ba saved but the government would rather waste it on boat spongers and armaments to Ukraine.

2:50 Offered 40% of the value of the property. Does that mean she would have to take out a morgage to get a similar property in the neighbourhood??

I know a little about the coast of East Anglia because I have worked on the geology of the area, but I know slightly more about Romney Marsh, that a friend of mine was studying aspects of during the time I was working in that area. She ended one of her reports by writing that our current coastlines will become increasingly difficult and expensive to maintain, and painful decisions will need to be taken. That was before we were aware of just how quickly the rate of sea level rise is accelerating due to climate change. We have learned much about improving sea defence during my lifetime, but no matter how much money is spent on maintaining our current coastlines, many parts of the east and south coasts will be lost during this century, and some British people will become climate refugees, like those arriving here from other parts of the world today.

The government would sooner send money aboard and on immigration then on our coastline.

Wouldn’t you think with all the profits made from these big corporations they should be made to pay for all the defences around Britain. After all government spending on the public sector should have been doing more to protect our country.

I was looking at south ice caps not long ago on google maps, About more 3, 000 miles of ice at the south pole, It getting very slushy, Melting fast, hate to think for the future get further flooding, About time to build walls around the edges of coast lines, Not only it save more land from caving in to seas, Also create more Jobs as well

We can't afford to lose land we are a small country, not only that you are talking about people and their homes.

been has been happening around the Norfolk coast for the last 20 odd years, Any one lives near the coast when coast collapsing in to Sea, Best to move out, Get your old home knocked down, Or end up facing something worse, Something got to be done, Or end up loosing land in the near future as ice caps melt while sea levels rising, I heard the UK more likely be under sea by the time the ice caps melted away

Dubai tried artificial islands and affected coastlines beyond there development. An upside to some reclamation was by using concrete spike barriers it reduced the wave impact and also created habitats for sea life. As an Island nation I would have thought retaining and even reclaiming coastline would be a high priority, China has also reclaimed coastline for airports etc although the quality could be better I hear.

If the government threw our foreign aid budget into this, or the Ukraine budget, maybe the immigration budget, that would make a big difference, but they won’t.
