This episode highlights the difference between an onion farmer who makes profit and those who are often at a losing end. The first one has good partnership with warehouse owners who rents their facility to onion farmers giving them time to wait for lean months when price is good enough to earn more from their product. The losing farmer from other onion growing areas has to sell his harvests in bulk to traders who has access or who owns warehouses.

Source of capital to finance farm operations is also important. A farmer who can self finance his farm activities has more leeway to decide than somebody who borrows capital from creditors with marketing tie up.
