The suspect was seen pacing on a Manhattan-bound train around 11:45 a.m. Sunday morning before allegedly pulling out a gun and firing at a passenger in close range "without provocation."

20 prior arrests, but out on the streets. Likely a good number of convictions in there, along with a good number dismissed because the DA didn't want to be bothered. That about says it all. Society needs to get straight with this. Multiple offenses in the past means multiple offenses in the future. There is a way to prevent this. It is called incarceration. Serial offenders should be locked up, and kept locked up. Also, the homeless guy who resold the gun should have the book thrown at him, along with whoever bought it. Being homeless is simply not an adequate excuse, except in NYC it probably is.

I am so glad that the guy had been caught. That gentleman did not deserve to die that way. I was riding those subways for a long time when things were not that bad.
