As someone who doesn’t play a ton of games and most of them are casual I’ve been debating if it’s better to have a few fabulous games like this or more variety that I can barely cycle through in three years. Undecided on that, but I don’t think I can spend that much for this. Would love to play it though.

I get his viewpoint now it’s perfectly acceptable to own this game because it really does fit the crown jewel place in your collection. Sure I might LOVE Hansa Teutonica or Thurn and Taxis and overlook their beige boringness. But of any deluxe game this is one of the best I’ve seen. It fits a similar niche as a heirloom chess set… awe inspiring looks and classic and strategic gameplay. If the recent Skyrise Kickstarter had minis that looked this good I’d have gotten deluxe. But for that I assumed the Classic would look good enough.

Nice! But you made an error. According to the rules (p.9), when constructing a building, you may build over a building you constructed earlier, but only if the new building is bigger than any one you are building over, regardless of the type.

yeah, nah, I can't be persuaded to buy what should be a $25 game for this price at this size. could have been a $50 game and still been suuuuper nice in the production. I think this game, and all the positive reviews which overlooks, accepts, or worse, champions this level of production, is a detriment to the hobby. should BarenPark have individual models for each of the tiles?

I do hope to play this some day. The shipping on this would just have doubled the cost with all fees so I did pass on the Kickstarter. :) But I do love overproduced games and this looks fun.

It’s just not a classic or legendary enough regarding the gameplay. Therefore not worth it taking up this much space. I doubt people will talk about it in 2-3 years from now because it will get old. It doesn’t have the legs

The most laughable part of all this is the “Dice Tower Essential” designation

Fine review, but I feel like too much time has been spent on saying variations of „it looks good“, which I can see by just looking at it. Would have been more interesting to spend more time on discussing and critiquing how the game plays in practice.

I am sorry, but when you spend 3/4ths of your opinion on how the way the game looks is why you should get/play it just tells me that the gameplay is very meh and not worth it.

This game avoids the flaws in New York 1901: The luck of the three-block cards and the "objectives". I give this one a 9.
