While the numbers of women in STEM careers are still low, women in STEM board positions rose by 18% in 2020 and female enrollment in college level STEM courses continue to rise by about 6% annually.
That’s why our Girls in STEM initiative remains committed to creating a future where more young girls can take on the mantle to become STEM leaders, like Limali who is a Commercialization Lead at Twinery.
Limali nurtured a love of aeroplanes and mathematics, which along with the sage advice of an amazing mentor, helped build her career as an aerospace engineer. She shares how her different influences, including a family of strong women and a Sri Lankan legend like Ray Wijewardene, shaped her journey in STEM and kept the rebel in her alive!
