All these years later it still boggles my mind that she was able to sing this as it was written by her husband as they were going through their divorce. The heartbreak in the words is what gets you, the emotion. As you see on many of the talent shows now, the judges say that they want to hear the emotion in the song, they want to feel thfat emotion and this song delivers in spades. It still maks my heart break for what they went through, especially Bjorn as he wrote the lyrics and this was his pain laid bare for all the world to hear.

ABBA is one of my favorites groups from the 70's-80's. They had lots of hits & I owned many of their albums. I can't think of a bad song by them. Some of their best are "Gimme, Gimme, Gimme", "Thank You For The Music", "Does Your Mother Know?", "Waterloo", "Money, Money, Money", "The Name Of The Game", "Super Trouper", "I Have A Dream", "Voulez-Vous", "Fernando", "Chiquitita", "Take A Chance On Me", "Mamma Mia", "SOS", "Knowing Me, Knowing You", "Dancing Queen" etc.
"The Winner Takes It All" is one of Abba's more sad songs. Björn Ulvaeus admitted that the heartache of his breakup with Agnetha Fältskog inspired this song. In divorce no one really wins.
