Показать описание
In this high level session, European Commissioner Kadri Simson and IEA Executive Director Dr. Fatih Birol discussed the driving role of clean energy Research and Innovation in the recovery context and the impacts of the pandemic on global and European energy markets, energy resilience, and climate change.
The session explored how Clean Energy R&I will provide concrete and real-world solutions to keep the Clean Energy Transition at the centre of the economy, creating sustainable jobs and economic growth.
The session addressed the IEA’s technology innovation work at the global level and the EU’s efforts to put R&I at the service of the Green Deal through evidence and impact-based policy in order to strengthen clean technologies’ competitiveness and Europe’s long term green recovery. The European Green Deal and the new recovery context require a stronger focus on the relation between research and innovation activities, technologies, sustainable economic growth and Green Deal objectives. In this context, gathering and structuring evidence can be an important instrument to support the public debate on setting technology and innovation priorities and strengthen the impact of the Horizon Europe Programme.
