Dak Prescott and the Cowboys are reportedly still working on a contract extension, with less than a week to go before the start of the 2024 NFL season. Here’s the latest from Ian Rapoport of NFL Network: “You guys mentioned the Cowboys start with Dak Prescott, their quarterback, who is in talks with the team about a potential contract extension that would keep him in a Cowboys uniform, maybe for the balance of his career. The two sides have been working. There have been active conversations for about the last month or so, and the stakes are as high as they get. If Prescott does do a deal, which, of course, would make him the highest-paid quarterback, player, everything in NFL history, then he will remain with the Cowboys this season and beyond. If he does not do a deal, then the likelihood is he’ll be a free agent, the highest-profile free agent we have ever seen. He has all the leverage you could possibly get, and the clock is ticking.”

Whatever the Cowboys decide to do with Dak Prescott, it will be controversial. But Cowboys Report host Tom Downey wants to remind everyone: the real mistakes have already been made. A QB of Dak Prescott’s caliber, age and (presumed) health has NEVER hit free agency. The potential outcome here is pay an unknown, massive amount in March or be without a QB and limited assets to get one. They messed up not paying him early 5 years ago and they’re still paying for that.

I don't know why everybody thinks Trey Lance sucks. Go back and watch his highlights in the 3 preseason games this year. He had a lot of interceptions in the last game but he also had a bunch of great plays in the last game. Same thing with the second preseason game he did great and he's playing with no name guys, not the number ones. When he was with the 49rs he didn't play much because he got hurt two years in a row so he never really had a chance to play much and show what he could do. He's way fast then Dak and uses his legs more than Dak when nobody is open. Dak just stands there and takes a sack or runs out of bounds 2 yards behind the line of scrimmage.
