In an interview in the later years of Edward and Wallis, Edward said after he met Wallis he thought "I must have this woman . . ." I think he undoubtedly loved her and her love and passion for him grew. There is no perfect marriage and they were together longer than most relationships today. True, in a straight on photo, she was not attractive, but there are many photos of her that are beautiful. I’ve never been sure if she loved him or not. He was certainly obsessed. But I don’t think she was aware of love until she lost him. It is a truly fascinating story. Her end was tragic between the Mountbattens and a crooked lawyer, she had a sorrowful end.
