The saddest part about Ai is that while she felt like she didn't know what love was, she showed it in the last few moments of her life. Even after being stabbed she still tries to protect her son from any potential harm, treats her killer with kindness and even remembers his name even after he calls her a sl&t for living her own life, comforts Aqua even though she knows she's about to die, tells Ruby not to come in so she doesn't see what happened to her, worries about the concert and if it will disappoint everyone, and uses her last minutes to tell her children how much she does love them.

Thanks Oshi no Ko for traumatizing us in the first episode.

When you realized, this is not just Aqua and Ruby crying for their mother, but also their previous life self crying for their lovely idol

The fact that Ai was the most selfless person ever! She apologized to her killer bc she may have mistakin his name, and even thanked him! Ai was even honest that she was lying, and said she didn't even know what love was, even though she was expressing it so, so much! Ai cared for her children, thinking about them instead of her! Knowing that she was about to die, she still told her children that she loved them, which is the first time Ai truly finds out what love really is. This is truly one of the best characters of all time, and one of the saddest deaths in the history of anime! 😢

When you’re here to rewatch this scene because you didn’t see it properly the first time since your eyes were clouded with tears, but you still can’t stop crying:

The fact that when the sparkle in her eyes disappear when she dies makes it so much sadder to me

Everything wrong with idol culture summed up in 3 minutes.

This is definitely the saddest death so far that I've seen in any anime. It pulls you in to get attached to the innocent character and then dies living a very short life and never experiencing things that others get to experience later in life, or even fully understanding her emotions. This made me shed a tear.

I didn't watch the anime itself yet, but thank you for sharing the depression that everyone has felt from this scene.

In a universe where characters can reincarnate, Ai crossed over to the afterlife. I remember reading a comment saying that her cycle of birth, death, and rebirth (as part of Buddhist belief) is complete as she already met her goal: to know how love feels.

Still, it’s sad that she died at such a young age.

Imagine being a doctor knowing how to save her but powerless to do so. Poor Aqua.

You would not believe how many idols and stars have died because of obsessive fans, worldwide. I enjoy how this show exposes this double standard of loving your idol only if they are some standard of 'pure', and losing that love immediately if they 'break the rules'. It's not love, it's possession. And j-pop/k-pop fans in the extreme category are some of the most toxic people I can think of. They do have a lot of wonderful fans and healthy support-- overflowing even. But, just like with any fanbase, there are people in it who are super creepy about it going into stalker territory and they end up being the ingredient that spoils the stew for everyone else.

When I started watching, I had no prior info on this anime and expected a slice of life, not piece of grief.

If you've watched this without crying, you've transcended humanity

I know how Aqua and Ruby feel, seeing a parent die as a MINOR is not fun, because I went through that too (granted: by illness, not murder, but still)… Holy crap that’s one of the most heartbreaking scenes in ANY media I’ve seen ever…

My interpretation of Ai is a teenager who had severe issues with who loves her and who she should love. All she wants is to feel love, in any way she can. She was also never loved herself, and I also understand what its like to feel like no one loves you. I was separated from my mom and put in foster care a while back. No one liked me because my family thought I was just like my miserable father. But ive come to realize that its not about what people think of you, but what you think of yourself. So I try to love everyone, even if its not true, I want to lie to myself until it becomes true because it's the right thing to do, and it's the harshly true way to live. This is the message of the show as well, and ive been waiting awhile for a show with a message like this. Its beautiful. I hope people account themselves appropriately after acknowledging what it means to love everyone and try to take action. Dont sit around and do nothing, Go love the world, however you can.

Bro I started this anime without having even read a synopsis and this genuinely shocked me so much… I loved Ai right from the start and just never expected this
