"... exquisite music such as we just heard." Should we tell him?

I love AWS but this almost felt like an April fools joke. I know it’s amazing tech under the hood so I’m looking forward to see what happens down the road.

The stuff it generated in this video sounded embarrassingly bad.

It would seem that the pinnacle of human creation is still safe for the time being :)

Sounds almost as good as Casio from the 1980s.

Better automated composition software already exists. I was expecting a step forward, not a step several years back.

Did the artists fed to that Neural Network authorize the use of their creative work as training material for the AI ?

Here is the AI Keyboard. We'll demo it with a singer-guitarist.

"How can we make this video even more incredibly exciting?"
"Try putting an exclamation mark at the end of the title"

Came here from The Register, which has the awesome headline "Buy Amazon's tiny $99 keyboard so you can make terrible AI music for all your friends" and it is actually true :-D

A bunch of musicians should get together and hold a press conference to unveil our breakthrough for software engineers: THE MOUSE and THE KEYBOARD!!!!

Most random new feature AWS could have released.
I was expecting something like Docker Compose.

I bought Band-In-A-Box 15 years ago and it sounded exactly like that. Thanks for wasting my time Amazon.

Now I want to watch a video of Steve Ballmer demonstrating MS Paint, showing an equal, unparalleled appreciation of the old masters.

Did amazon ever consider that DeepComposer sounds too similar to decompose as in rotting? Could've done better with the name. The music sounded like decomposing garbage similar to Soundblaster demos in the early 90s, hopefully with more training after outsourcing all the data to composers who get duped into buying and using the keyboard, the real question is do the composers that provide that data for helping build the better model get appended credit that's ultimately owned by Amazon?

Clearly very early stage technology when compared to what has existed for decades in other industries; Lowrey, Hammond, Yamaha, Kawai that list goes on for a very long time and is now spawned the latest re-incantations in the form of the hybrid DJ/Musician with (aggregate) devices and software like Novation, Ableton, Roland, Behringer and an almost non-stop stream of others. Will it, or perhaps the better question is, when will it become fast enough for live performances (perhaps even taking it's cues from the security cams!)? From what I can see on the intro page you can take the output of the AI and us it as the input for a DAW (presuming it's MIDI (hopefully!) for further enhancing. That's the use case I would be interested in exploring initially. Then again it might be a while yet, much like myself, before AI develops taste :)
