Older people past a certain age really need to have more frequent driving exams or doctor’s notes clearing them to drive. She annihilated an entire family. How can she live with herself.

Extra cameras would not have prevented this. High barriers in front of the bus station area would have.

Speed cameras aren’t the answer. Speed cameras are to raise money.

And speed cameras absolutely, positively, definitely *would not have prevented this tragedy.*

When my mom turned 77, my sisters and I forcibly took my mom's car keys and sold her car. She was a little bitter at first but now realizes it was for the better. We've since moved her into a retirement community by me, and I drive her places and do her grocery shopping for her

I had an 89 year old pull out in front of me without even looking, causing me to not only side swipe her car ( I didn’t want to kill her by a direct hit ) I went over the median and became a projectile for a northbound suv. Horrific crash.
People that old shouldn’t be allowed to drive as their reflexes slow down as well as their ability to drive period
My ❤ goes out to the family

Some people are totally cognitive in their Senior years, but after age 75 people should be retested annually or bi-annually. After 80 and above, every year a road test

My 80 year old mother just renewed her drivers license. She has memory loss and dementia. No way should she be driving.
She passed the online DMV course to renew (with help from grandkids). The need for driving is strong within her.
She often forgets where is parked the car. She sometimes gets lost a few blocks away from her house.

SPEED CAMERAS DO NOT SAVE LIVES! WTH are they saying/thinking? Add a stop, make lights flash, but cameras only observe and send tickets months later, Thats it! Plus it'll cost the city money, not just those who speed.

Age limits to drive, this is a headline from last week in NJ:
94-year-old driver arrested in fatal hit-and-run crash

Yes let us create a surveillance state and guess what - - All the cameras in the world would NOT have stopped this accident - - All you would get would be nice clear pictures of this woman hitting the bus stop and the cops coming in to clean up the mess - - but the rest of us will have to give up privacy because of someone's irrational fear... ( because some government official wanting to revenue enhance the slush fund )

Cameras wont do anything but allow more intrusion. Barriers might be a better idea at bus stops.

We need to know the details of what was going on with the driver. Was it age related? Driving while distracted? Mechanical failure? Dont jump to conclusions without full understanding of what happened. Speed and red light cameras are tools to take money from the people and give it to the government.

I'm 65 this year and will most likely give up my drivers license when I'm 70 or 75. Too many crazy drivers out there

Huh....but do you arrest criminals your DA released from prison who then commits another rape or molestation? Or a "migrant" who brought drugs laced with fentanyl that killed 50 people, or was drunk and crashed his car or was drunk and got his 5th or 10 DUI? It seems like there has been story after story that you have or had a DA that refused to prosecute violent criminals. I remember a time a man who had been deported several times, had committed crimes, had a gun illegally and it went off on a pier. It killed a young woman. But he wasn't charged. How odd.

SPEED BUMPS might better complement the cameras!

Aren’t teenagers more dangerous drivers than senior citizens??

If she had been an illegal 78 year old no charges would have been charged. It just amazes me how many bad drivers that are in their 20's and do this exact same thing but it is never held in jail.

Drive with your elderly relatives and assess their driving skills. Give them feedback in no uncertain terms. This is tough love but the ramifications are deadly serious

Wouldnt let her family talk to her and remind her not to speak to the police and get a lawyer. How is that legal?
