Best Infantry vs Elephants - Medieval 2 Total War

Conquistadores are the strongest melee infantry in vanilla Medieval 2:Total War with the latest patches. Timurid elephants are another extreme unit in this game. I tested if the best melee infantry can defeat elephants or not in this video.

In a open field they are rather impossible to beat. In dense forest or jungle they will be destroyed by the weakest of infantry.

Surprisingly Alumguvars hold up well against the Timurids. My last play through as Spain I had a very long and costly war against those bastards. There were many deaths. I had no choice to rely on my Alumguvars and I expected them to retreat and die but they held their ground and inflicted some elephant kills. And they did even better against lancer Calvary.

I would be interested to know how many archers it takes to win against the elephants. To me, it always looks like these have no effect
