Making Hydrophobic Sand. 'Magic Sand'

I made this video to show that the methods I used in the first video are accurate. Some people had a problem with a color change, and in this video there is no color change. I also answer a few questions and I will answer any other questions right here in the description. Thanks for watching!

The safety information will change depending on the waterproofing agent you use. The sand itself is safe, the water proofing agent has chemicals that may be dangerous to ingest. The hydrophobic sand should be safe to handle after the waterproofing agent dries.

First let me say what would these lil kids do back in the 90's when all the cooking/science shows had pre made duplicates made on the side in order to film live TV and still show the product? Anyway it's very kind, and patient of you to do a remake. Also the floating of it in the top is no fault of his or the product as the original toy you get these in has a long tube so you can break the surface tension which is like a tiny layer of skin over the top of the water. For anyone doing this at home try the funnel plus a straw or coffee stirrer straw. Put it deep in the water and build your way up from the bottom of the container.

you should do an experiment with one bag into like 4 separate piles, and on each pile do 1 spay more than the last, so the first pile has 1 coat, second pile has 2 coats. & so on

Pretty cool, wonder if anyone's tried Rust-oleums Never Wet.  Another good fast-drying WP agent to try might be Rain-X or Aquapel, both dry super fast.  Since sand is essentially glass, seems logical.

Hey I have a question about this colored sand.  I have a jar that had layers of different colored sand inside, but the jar fell over and now they have all mixed together.  How do you get the different colors of sand apart again?

It's floating because your putting it through a funnel, you don't put it in a funnel. People need to do their research before uploading a video. You don't need to wait 2-3 days you put it in straight after you put the water guard on it
