The bodice of her dress was made stiff on purpose, its the fabric. Almost like the "stomachers" the front pieces of dresses from the Tudor era. thats why the dress looks almost liquid in the fit. Its flawless in fit but it ends up the straps with that appearance, which she and her designer knew would be commented on, maybe negatively, but im looking at it as art. Not for everyone though, for sure. I love you guys💖

Stiff dress straps do not seem to be very flattering. Designers should steer away from that. The stiff "tin can coat" from Loewe that Taylor Russell wore at Paris fashion week worked for her because it was for show and a photoshoot, but stiff garments are not very becoming or functional when worn at regular non-fashion events. I miss the days when stars actually wore beautiful garments that made sense, and inspired the rest of us. Emily Blunt is beautiful, but the top part of that dress is giving me Sailor Moon vibes.

I know the straps were supposed to look like that but it surely does look like the dress doesn’t fit her well and it’s distracting. I get the artistry but it would look better without that element. Florence Pugh’s straps looked better. The same effect but it seemed truly intentional in a way that it actually worked without feeling something was off.
