I met my husband through a mutual friend and while I don’t believe in love at first sight or that there’s only one person for everyone, I do think you know when you meet someone you’re highly compatible with or, in some romanticised way, supposed to be with.

There was an instant connection and I just knew something would happen, like he’d be significant in my life. He felt the same and said he felt nervous the whole night. He said it was like nothing he’d ever experienced before, like he was drawn to me. We’re still together 11 years later and still very much in love.

When you know, you know. My now husband was 16 I was 20. He remembers my outfit and hair do I had that first night but I didn’t think twice about him of course. We were then reintroduced every Christmas holidays six more times but again I never remembered him. I was obviously older and also had a boyfriend and other various reasons why I didn’t ever remember him but one week after the seventh introduction, we were out at the same place, our eyes met across the room, the crowd parted and he walked directly towards me and I can still picture it to this day 23 years later and from that moment we were inseparable. 😊
