You could have waited the few days before the new cinnamon comes out with 20.3. The beta is already out with a slightly modernized UI.

After distro hopping for 2 months I'm back in mint. This is just everything that you need that just works. No more hopping

Cinnamon is the best desktop for 4K resolution with 2x HiDPI scaling. Install the Fluent GTK themes to make it look even better.

Hey found you on Mastodon. Always good to have another Linux YouTube channel in my collection of subs. Thanks for the content.

I'm a complete novice trying to switch to Linux and this really helped me visualise what my friend is talking about. thank you for making this: it might've seemed simple but it really helped nonetheless

I don't use Mint anymore because some things don't work quite right on it. But Cinnamon is still my desktop. I use it on Debian Sid and Arch. Ironic that you have to use something considered "unstable" if you want everything to work.

I run Cinnamon on openSUSE Tumbleweed, so far (6+ months) it's been awesome. Cinnamon hits the sweet spot between KDE and XFCE - very customizable and looks modern depending on how you theme it, but also very stable in my experience. Add to that the rolling yet stable nature of Tumbleweed and it's been very enjoyable and reliable to use.

This was really useful. Cinnamon is not my cup of tea, but you really provide good and complete information for me to make an informed choice.

I have no sound on my Zenbook UX430UQ on 21.3 Mint Cinnamon, Alsamixer says I have a Realtek ALC295 sound card. I went on the Asus Website and it says I installed the latest BIOS, tried to enter a few lines suggested by forums but the best I can get is a few seconds of audio then a quick drop off and back to no sound. Anyone knows what to do?

Could you make a video of "versus" between Budgie and Cinnamon cause they are the two Gnome Shell based desktops

Waiting for the 20.3 release after Christmas. Supposed to have some cosmetic changes to the desktop.

Really like your 120 second concept. Do you know if the menu can be installed on other distros?

What I'd really like is a Linux menu which mimics the Win10 Start menu. With one click I can see icons for all apps I commonly run (at least 20). Beyond that it has the concept of folders which when clicked expand to show icons to apps, scripts, and other files. If anyone knows a Linux menu like that I'd love to hear about it.
