Honestly, the fact he's holding back the laughter adds so much to the character.
Instead of being some super serious Soviet badass, he's like a smiling bureaucrat who is excessively pleased with himself.
It's kind of creepy now that I think about it, but it's also just great.

Oh, and the "SPACE" line gets me every time.

He started out very strong but you can see when he starts to think about what he’s saying that he starts to realize the absurdity of the line, before almost losing it, and then triumphantly exclaiming “SPACE!”

I felt so bad when I learned Tim Curry suffered a stroke that nearly completely paralyzed him. Such a fun and charismatic actor doesn’t deserve to be silenced like that. I hope he recovers!

I have a special love for actors like Tim Curry and Nicolas Cage. They love their jobs/art and have fun.
So sad Tim Curry had a stroke and is in wheelchair :(
I loved all his performances in all his movies. He was always much fun.
