I'm from *Gond Tribe, * a practicing Hindu. Atleast in my Place *(in Odisha)* We also worship our Ancestral Tribal Dieties along with Hindu Dities... There are no Hindrances for this practice And Our Native Folk religion is called *Koyapunem.* Where the Supreme God is known as *LingaDev/BadaDev or "Shree-Shambhu-Mahadev"* who's none other than *"Bhagawaan Shiva"* and *"Mata Parvati"* is known as *"Gaura"* ..Together They are called *"Shambhu-Gaura"* ..

Just like the *Saptrishis* in Hindu Tradition, Gond Folklore have *7 Brothers* who are the *Sons of Shiva* And our Different *Lineages or Gotra* are Originated from those *7 Brothers* ..So, According to this Lore It makes us the *Children of "Bhagwaan Shiva and Mata Parvati"*

In tamilnadu too we have similar story like parvathi became peacock and plucking bilva leafs worshipped lord Shiva on Shiva ratri unknowingly. Therefore Mylapore peacock city lord Shiva blessed her by giving Darshanam of kailas . So even now in Mylapore city Shiva ratri we chant "kailaye mylai" Har har mahadev

In andhra pradesh, mahasivaratri is a huge celebration. Most of us don't sleep on that night and we just roam around the shiva temple and various programmes and street plays happen that night. Also, On the day before shivaratri, we apply lime stone on our cattle and do a pradakshina with them around the temple. Now i can connnect the dots, Shiva is pashupathi and ancestors have been doing this for ages. Not sleeping on shivaratri is a common knowledge among telugu people. We call it 'shivaratri jaagaram'.

I am from Maharashtra.
A scripture in Marathi called "Shiv Lila Amrut" is dedicated to Lord Shiva.
I know this because my father used to recite it.
In this scripture this same story under name of 'vyadh / nishad' is narrated.
This scripture is very popular among devotees of Lord Shiva, and they recite it daily or on certain occasions such as on Monday, Pradosh, Shivratri and

In karnataka we have story of "bedara kannappa"
That night hunter kannappa (who is hungry all day) sat on a tree and throughs bilva leaves on the shivalinga unknowingly and from then he became devotee of shiva
This story is popular everywhere
You can see the picture of kannappa in isha yoga center coimbatore
And some says arjuna from mahabharata incarnated as kannappa in kaliyuga

This is extremely enlightening. Since my 5th grade, I have annually celebrated Maha Shivratri. The tradition includes taking a bath the following morning and visiting a pandit to listen to the "brota katha" (the tale involving hunters, a tree, and Shiva), which we regard as an integral part of the festivities.

Sometimes, even during the night, we would go to the "বেল গাছ" (wood apple tree) near the Kali/Shiva temple and shake it.

Now, living outside Bengal for five years, I try to keep up the annual celebration but miss the communal gatherings and stories we used to share.

I was aware of the Mahashivratri story but completely unaware of these archeological findings and their striking resemblance with Mahashivratri story. Thank you very much for making this documentary and your valuable insights. 🙏

U called Chola king as invader, thats incorrect, Chola kings were far for richer and kingdom was very prosperous, it was a war not invasion, that happen and the people of Bali and Indonesia consider this as a welcoming action, had there been an invasion the story would have been entirely different, this is not a biased opinion but academically scrutinize one.

In Celtic mythology and the archeology linked to it we find the image of Cernunnos, engraved in the silver Gundestrupe caldera from the Iron Age, which is identical to that of the Hindu valley. Amazing! 🧡🙏🧡

Very interesting video! Actually there's another paper by the noted archaeologist Shri Abhyankar. That paper talks about the pashupatinath seal. He identifies that with a planetary alignment that happened in Feb 3012 BC when all 9 planets (including sun n moon) looked like they were together in one region of the sky. That also happened to be the longest night of the year (winter solstice) and hence that was called Maha Shiva Ratri. longest night of the year. Plus the 4 animals present in the seal represent the 4 constellations present in 4 quadrants of the sky at that time.
