"This song means more to me personally than anything I've ever written. It's the bittersweet true story of my grandparent's life together from the beginning until the end. I wrote it from the shoes of my papaw to my granny, shortly after I lost both of them. The Williams legacy side is always focused on, and I'm unbelievably proud to be in the lineage, but I didn't know Hank Williams as a grandparent. He died in 1952 and Audrey was gone before I was born. The grandparents I knew and loved and spent so much time with were Warren and June White, from a small town in Louisiana called Mer Rouge. We compiled tons of old family footage to disperse throughout this video that was shot as a live performance. It meant so much to me to make this video, I truly hope you enjoy..."

This is on my short list of “greatest country songs ever”. Every word is perfect.

Just hit 21 years married with my man. I was so scared to get married and shaking during the ceremony. He paused the service and whispered in my ear "I choose you today and for always. You are my forever girl even if you bail. No matter what I am locked in." I breathed for the first time in my life and for once let go and never looked back. I choose him too. We are a united front and it is a powerful thing to lean into!

Stephen Thompson on NPR recommended Holly Williams in an article about another American heartbreaker, "Fast Car" by Tracy Chapman. I was born in 1952, always loved Chapman, and see unkindness too often these days—it was always there but I have had a lucky life. This song reminds me how fortunate I am to be married to my husband since 1974. Fifty years next year. Holly, you made me cry and cry. Feeling is good.

I never knew Hank Williams jr. Had a daughter with such a beautiful voice singing such a beautiful love song. Thanks to a critic on YouTube named Grady Smith.

I cry every time I play the song, and even more when I saw the video. I think we all want to be loved like that. My great uncle just died this past week. He and my great aunt made it to 70 YEARS of marriage. How blessed they were!

This artist is someone that should have been front stage and center on the CMAs.  Holly Williams has real talent.  This song is beyond amazing.  I am just starting to learn how to play and sing this song and I can't seem to get too many verses into the song without tearing up!  This is REAL country music.  Thank you, Holly!!

Corporations didn't build America. Cities didn't build America. These people are the heartland. Where do you go when the heartland is gone. I've listened to this song hundreds of times, it still rips my heart open in a good way. No other songs. Thank you Holly and friends.

This song never fails to bring tears to my eyes. I didn't know your grandparents well, only met them a few times. They were cherished friends of my cousins (their swimming pool can be seen in Warren's home movies in your video). Your mom and one of your aunts were, with my cousin Molly, part of the Sunshine Scatterers in Mer Rouge when they were kids. They held meetings that opened with the Lord's Prayer and Pledge of Allegiance plus an offering where they'd consider who in the town who might be sick, celebrating a new baby or whatever. Then, they'd deliver cookies or a card or some other way to scatter some sunshine.

Years ago, I mentioned to your great aunt Genevieve how growing up in Mer Rouge must've been something special. "Oh, we never locked our doors. Somebody might need something!" Priceless! By the way, I saw Genevieve last Saturday and she looked great. She is truly a treasure and a delight.

Seriously, can you condense more of America in a song? God bless you Holly. Great video of how we used to be.

nothing better than a true love song. I didn't know my grandparents so much but watched my mother and father go through the last 30 of their 50 yr marriage before pops died. I'm sure Lowery was leaning up against that pearly gate with a shaft of grass hanging out his mouth waiting on Genevieve as well.

I'm 58 years of age, served my country in a combat roll seen and experienced things in my lifetime that I can't even begin to explain. But never have I seen moved like I was by this incredible young woman singing such a magnificent tribute, very well done young lady I hope you go further than even you could hope to dream. God bless you.
