I like that option. A perma-dead Palpatine, a non-mutilated Vader, and the twins never separated.

In the game for Revenge of the Sith there is an alternate ending that has Anakin kill Obi Wan, however when Palpatine arrived on Mustafar to pick Anakin up, Anakin would then kill Palpatine and take control of the Clone Army.
So in short your "what if" was fairly accurate to what the creator's imagined.
