Honestly love how Dan Rather took it in stride and said, “yeah, I’ll feed into this weird thing that happened to me.”

As a teen in the 90s in the UK, I had no idea "What's the frequency Kenneth" was a reference to anything. Interesting video.

The time traveler being sent to reduce his sentence is literally the plot of the 1995 "12 monkeys" movie.

imo the most significant "fact" is that rather was attacked by *2* men, which seems to somewhat challenge the notion that "this is just some crazy guy hearing voices"

The poor guy who William Tagar murdered gets low billing in this story, and the murderer got out early.

I thought it was just one guy. The fact that it was two makes it so much stranger.

In 1996, as a teenager going to my guitar lessons, I was cornered by a strange and aggressive customer at the music store where I took them. He whisked me outside and rapidly told me this story in great detail. I’ve legitimately thought about it and him every time I hear that song.

Maybe the frequency was the friends we made along the way.

I never knew that the reason I go by Ken instead of Kenneth to this day is because Dan Rather was assaulted on a Manhattan street in the late '80s. But yeah, no Kenneth was safe in the early '90s.

Dan rather should have said, "and to my attackers, I will never divulge the frequency!"

This video should have so many more views

Bahaha Dan Rather performing the song with REM is some crazy 90s shit I had no idea happened.

As a news anchorman, Dan Rather sure had more than his fair share of bizarre encounters. Remember when Rather was kidnapped in 1980 by a taxicab driver?

As a 61 year old New Yorker, music buff & major conspiracy afficionado, I NEVER HEARD OF THIS STORY

I thought i had seen it all until this channel. So many amazing videos about things i’ve literally never heard about before. It’s like this channel came from an alternate reality and i love it

Fun Fact about Kenneth Schaeffer - those units in the photo of him are wireless guitar units, the type used in the '70s and 'early '80s by bands like AC/DC, Kiss, The Police, and many others you've heard of. Those wireless units would compress the signal of the guitar, giving the sound more power and presence, so much so that to this day, AC/DC still uses devices based on those units in the studio and their live show.

'Probably not.' That's what I like so much about your content, it is informativ without trying to make somehing more creepy than it already is!

i remember at the time dave letterman reported on his show that the same thing happened to him...they asked "whats the frequency, kenneth?", to which he replied "94.7Hz", and with that they turned and left without a word...

As a Kenneth it's good to know the context of the question I have been asked throughout my life 😅
