That episode was a classic. Had a bunch of Recruiting Officers reviewing a proposed advert and asking for less gunfire and more mateship and barbecues. And around that time, there was a real RAN recruiting ad that looked more like a travel advert for Club Med!

every person I know in military had their teeth done within 12 month EVERY SINGLE PERSON had their wisdom tooth taken out (it comes with week of paid leave )

The government needs to look at military service as more of a job. Compensation and benefits are critical. A dysfunctional work environment is also a problem.

Serious question if I may: We Yanks not only kept our troops in Afghanistan for two decades, we also just kept individuals there for extra hitches ("Oh, you signed up for eight years? Well it's 12 now"). Did y'all pull anytjing like that? I always thought that was seriously evil, and now we can't get anyone to sign up either. Big shock. And ask us about our atrocious veteran health plan sometime.
We can't recruit for love or money now.

As a veteran, I just want to let you know that the quality of healthcare you receive is of a lower standard than what the general population would get. They do not check risk factors at all whatsoever as they assume you're perfectly fit and healthy. I almost died because they couldn't care enough to just check my blood pressure while I was pregnant, not even once. And my daughter did die because they weren't doing their jobs properly.
Do not join the ADF.

I'm from a military family. My mother both my uncles, my Grandpa on both sides a bunch of their brothers
Within three generations 41 people 23 were in the military
Besides my grandparents, none of us went in with patriotism. We all love our country but we also think it's s*** the school was a big one. The flex was a big one being that we're in a military family that was a big one

For me it was the blind orders bit. Specially when the orders came from a chain of unbelievably incompetent people. Did my 4 and abandoned it. If they wanna promote the incompetent because they can do more pullups, then ill take my free masters degree and walk.
