The last gen Crown Vic is the best looking cop car hands down. Close second is the 90 Caprice IMO.

Definitely going to be a performance and reliability improvement with the hybrid system. I've been driving an Insight for 8 years and it's been super reliable. If I remember correctly Ford partnered with Toyota to develope their system so it should be solid.

Those Exploders are going back to a rear drive bias! Back to getting the rear end a little sideways :P Also I imagine the instant torque of the electric motors will be super useful for constantly cornering and slowing to clear intersections in the city.

You should check out the TFLCar review on the new Explorer! It's a new platform, and is RWD based instead of FWD based like the outgoing model. All models (including the hybrid) get the 10-speed auto that Ford developed with GM, and the hybrid model gets 318+ HP/Torque. It's still a Ferd but it's shaping up to be a pretty solid deal on paper!

Who remembers seeing the glowing red front brake rotors on the old Crown Vics as you jumped out of the car and ran past the front end? We need better brakes and this new Explorer ST looks like just the ticket.

It should be equipped with the new twin turbo V6 400HP engine, rear wheel drive, the upgraded suspension and the upgraded brakes like in the ST version. A police car needs low end torque for getting back up to speed after clearing an intersection lane by lane. That ST version looks wicked.

I like it, I don't think its ugly.. Its pretty cool.. I love Ford 2013 Taurus.. I love my Ford Taurus upset at Ford's for getting rid of all Sedan's including my beloved Taurus.. First they get rid of Crown Victoria, now my Ford Taurus.. I like the explorer..

Why on earth would you think that is ugly? I personally think the explorer is one of the nicest looking utilities out there (nicer in my opinion that even the rediculous luxury SUV's like Porsche and Cadillac). I'm a bit biased, I guess, because I own one (civilian explorer Ltd). Beautiful profile in my opinion.

But then, I didn't hate the cvpi either. Love the chargers.
