Types of Hair Transplant:
Hair transplant types are called differently depending on the methods and technologies used in graft harvesting and transplantation. Basically hair transplant types are divided into two as FUT method and FUE method. The FUE method is called with different names due to the different materials and methods used to harvesting hair follicles from the donor area. These are as Fue with sapphire tip (Sapphire FUE), FUE with Choi Implanter (DHI), Robotic FUE, U-Graft FUE, Percutaneous Hair Transplantation technique and may be many different names.

FUT (Follicular Unit Transportation):
FUT is a hair transplant method, which is performed with a thin strip of skin is removed, is also known as “strip”. Dermis is extracted from the back or sides of the head as a ribbon. The follicular units are then removed individually for transplantation to the hairless areas. FUT method is not preferred because of the success of FUE method which is widely used nowadays.

Sapphire FUE Hair Transplantation (FUE with sapphire tip):
In FUE hair transplant method, the hair follicles are taken one by one from the donor region under local anesthesia with micro-motors that diameters ranging between 0.6 – 0.7 – 0.8 mm and implanted in the bald area considering to hair shaft angle and direction. When using FUE hair transplant method performed with sapphire tips, instead of using steel scalpel (metal slit), special sapphire tips are used to open micro channels in the receiving area.

Sapphire tips are designed to minimize the presence of scab and scars in the receiving area, to speed up the healing process, and to allow the opening of smaller and more sensitive micro channels. Sapphire FUE hair transplant method offers a very modern and superior method for hair transplant surgery.

Direct Hair Transplantation (DHI):
In contrast to other methods, Direct Hair Transplantation (Direct Hair Implant) does not require channel opening. The hair follicles are planted directly in the area using the Choi implanter, the patented DHI implantation tool. Doctors use this tool to give full control over the depth, direction and angle of each follicle. This method stands out with its success in unshaved hair transplantation.
