The Royal Ballet rehearse Giselle #WorldBalletDay 2021

Giselle is the classic ballet of the Romantic era – and, for the dancer performing the title role, one of the greatest challenges in the repertory. Peter Wright’s production, a classic itself, perfectly achieves the dual aspects of the ballet, moving from the naivety of young love between Giselle and Albrecht in the village setting of Act I to the ethereal Wilis in Act II’s eerie moonlit forest. Rich in vivid character detail and poignant depth of feeling, Giselle is a reminder of ballet’s power to move and thrill.

My dear mother worked her whole life as a ballet pianist. I have such fond memories of sitting quietly in the corner, watching the students rehearse and do the most wonderful things to the music. It was always such a treat to sit through a class after school and admire the absolutely unique combination of strength and grace that ballet dancers possess and express. Love watching these classes and rehearsals, enjoying Tim's playing!

It’s really awesome to see dancers wearing their natural hair in a ballet company. Especially one as respected and traditional as the royal ballet. I hope they continue to set the standard for inclusion for years to come.

Anyone that hasn’t done ballet hasn’t the slightest clue how incredibly technical and exhausting it is mentally, physically, emotionally. These dancers, teachers and pianists are brilliant! Bravo.

Such a privilege watching the attention to detail and the amount of work these stunning dancers put in. They do look healthy and fit: great that the Royal Ballet and its school has invested so much in proper healthcare and nutrition.

I love how they all smile so beautifully when they finish a bit! Fun contrast with their solemn bride faces.

I still remember the Entrance of the Shades rehearsal. Just like that one, this feels magical. Two of my favorite rehearsals.

So nice to see a non toxic comment section that isn't full of people attacking eachother over unnecessarily negative comments!

Not only do I know how physically intense they are working but you can SEE it in the well earned sweat that you can see and yet they maintain the sheer grace throughout. One of the most physically taxing things ever and it’s no wonder they are in an amazing corps

The Royal ballet Corps are extraordinary - sharp and well- trained technicians - rehearsals are always much more interesting than performance- you can see the artistry and stamina needed to be a ballet dancer -

I have watched this so many times! Each time I choose a different dancer to focus on (yay for all the different colored leotards and skirts, lol). Each dancer is so lovely in her own way, and as a unit they are perfection.

Thank you. The Corp de ballet 🩰 is always the heart of every ballet. I feel they do get overshadowed by principle Dancers and audience favourites, but it takes great stamina and control to stand still for ages in end. 👏👏👏👏 to them 🩰🩰👵👵🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺

i love these videos so much! it's like watching dance moms minus the traumatized children, mean teacher, and batshit crazy moms. i just love watching the process of dances being created. it's so beautiful and calming to me idk why.

There ladies are just so pure, technically; so happy, emotionally. That’s why we love Royal Ballet! I’m flying over half of the world again to see these ladies this May 2022!

It’s funny when she says “Alive!” when the Willis are literally dead. So beautiful!
