Brandy is forbidden actually. Wine, beer, cider or perry (think cider made from pears rather than apples) are the ones named in the labour code. No strong alcohols, and only outside of working hours and only on exceptional occasions.

Okay so I'm french, and this is entirely wrong, any drink that has more than 0.5% alcohol in it is forbidden in the workplace, and it will get you fired instantly if anyone find out.
BUT, it is actually **sometimes** ok to drink wine or cider if you work in a restaurant or a bar as long as you don't get drunk.
But if you're a mechanic you can't bring a bottle of red wine in the garage that's just illegal.
