That's the spider UK arms also used on magneto, I saw other reviews where they were able to get the shoulders up I think you have to apply pressure downwards as you rotate it up

Heat up the shoulders. The ankles on mine were stuck until I heated them.

I actually like this figure. I bought 2 and did a bruce lee custom on one of them. Turned out really nice.

2021 is going to be a big year for our Asian brethren. Shang-Qi movie release and the inaugural year of our first Asian US President Andrew Yang!!

Good review. Very good figure, fantastic muscular sculpt and articulation. My shoulders move up no problem but not all the way. But it goes further than your one here lol. All in all a great shangchi and Hasbro done well here.

Maybe filing down the torso piece that hinders the shoulder movement might help. I think he is worth at least the 16 bucks I preordered him for on Hasbro Pulse during their 20% off Black Friday sale.

I guess its your figure, I saw a photo on reddit that can get its shoulder up....

The shoulder is fine. Every other review I've seen shows his shoulders going up and down past 90 degrees. Your shoulder joint is just stiff.
Submerge it in hot water.

Interesting that he doesn't have peg holes, wonder if it was an oversight

I know you only placed this at number 5. But this a great figure to pose check out J Hernandez review. I am glad they went with the classic look an shirtless for improved posing. Family are watching Freddie Mercury in Netflix, just waiting for midnight so Happy New Year.

Can we stop saying Bucky Cap? That figure came out like 8 years ago..

It does look like they used the wrong shoulders (Bucky/Cap) for that upper torso (Spidey 2099). That's why there is a lot of crunching and poor movement. And I got to say why would you make a martial artist figure that can't do splits. Definitely needed more leg/hip flexibility. Why no shirt/vest. You know that headband is gonna break off with a little bit of posing. So yeah I got to give this two thumbs down.

It's pretty rare to see a reviewer botch a review this badly, and I feel for you. Might I recommend you acquire a small bottle of silicone shock oil and the next time you see articulation that won't move, add a couple drops and try again before assuming "it won't or it can't."

I'm not trying to be mean here, every one makes mistakes, and every one has hit bad figures, but it doesn't look like you even really tried to move the shoulder. And given that no other video reviewer has had this issue on their Shang Chi, it's clearly not a design or parts choice problem as you assert. Could be paint seal, could just be mold got squished, but there are fixes for that.

Fyi, in case your audience doesn't know, a lot of the warpage issues we see in mass market figures are due to the fact that they are assembled and packaged warm. Just as we use heat to disassemble a figure, the factory workers are popping together warm figure pieces so that assembly is quick and easy, but that means the figure cools and solidifies in the package. This is why accessories and thin bits warp so easily. It's also one reason why pieces stick, being squished together while warm can deform pegs and discs, or more likely, warp softer PVS pieces around the harder ABS pieces, gumming up joints. This is why the heat trick works, by softening the PVC, it will move more easily and reform to its cast shape around the harder ABS joint pieces. The heat trick doesn't work nearly as well for paint seal, the other common articulation gum up, as the ice trick does. Getting the figure cold makes the outermost layers of paint brittle, and thus they'll crack and fall away from the joint they've gummed up if you chill it and articulate it. Silicone shock negates both by lubricating the joint system. It's a great first response to a stuck joint, or one that has deep detents that might scare you of breakage. If SSO doesn't loosen the joint, heat is the next go to, and finally cold, but honestly, with SSO is your arsenal, you almost never need cold and only rarely heat, unless you're trying to disassemble the figure. Better luck next time man.

With a movie to release, it is very critical (annoying) that they have not manufactured this first figure of the character well.
Anyway...
Regards, happy 2020!
