Todd Boehly is the Los Angeles Dodgers owner.
Branch Rickey was one of their most famous General Managers (and one of the most famous in MLB, as he is in the Hall of Fame for his accomplishments as a GM)

Boehly is following Branch Rickey's logic by signing all these players. And Rickey's ideas ended up leading to the creation of the MLB farm system. He's trying to create the most American English team ever.

They've got like 50 players in their first team squad. That's mental! As someone who's played a lot of Football Manager games, I can say with certainty that around 30 players is like the upper limit of the number of players you can sustain in a squad (unless you're managing in Brazil....) without players getting unhappy.

You've basically got 3 entire starting 11's with 30! It's impossible to fit them all in! Players are GOING to be unhappy about being left out because there'll be at least 3 people in every position. With Chelsea, it's more like 5 or 6 players in each position! 7 or 8 in terms of goalies!. How the hell do they think they are going to manage that amount?

Chelsea be literally signing an entire school with all of them funds, while Ipswich’s biggest signings are Szmodics from blackburn, and Kalvin Phillips from man city on loan. How is this guy on loan again?

They are trying to make the club a talent factory. Signing players with high potential, loaning them out, then selling them for a fee higher than they bought them for, turning it into a financial profit. The problem is not all of the players will turn out to be as good as hyped, but Chelsea just need 1 or 2 of them to be good and then sold to cover from the possible financial loss from the other purchases.
