Filling the Pockets & Compartments of the SWISSGEAR 1900 ScanSmart Laptop Backpack

I recently got a 1900 at Staples. I like it so far. I tend to carry a lot and the 1900 distribution is not hard on my back.

The rapid-fire, super close-ups in many of the shots here don't allow you to see some of the zippers and pockets in relation to the rest. I was especially curious about how the side zip pockets worked, but no help here. And please, no snide, "They're on the side" comments. I have a reason for needing the precise info.

side slant zip pockets each side has 2 holes in it for what, so water can pass through? Side loading laptop compartment a zipper that ends at the top, why? It is known to zip these secure from one SIDE or the other so water does not pass down through them easily, laptop compartment ends right at the top not a full zipper unload. The entire demo has the person showing this off with both zippers meeting in the middle right at the top WHY? Single cushion bar to secure laptop not a cushion pocket. like other models. super disappointed sending it back.
