China holds live-fire military exercises in Taiwan Strait after Pelosi visit

China says it has conducted "precision missile strikes" in the Taiwan Strait as part of military exercises prompted by a visit to the island by U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

According to Taiwan commentators, the PLA exercise has been called off. This comes two days earlier than announced. Taiwan MOD published the launch time and the types of missiles from the PLA, which according to the commentators indicated that Taiwan's technology was able to map out PLA's positions. Furthermore, it also indicated that other countries' technology was in collaboration, namely the military satellites and reconnaissance airplanes from the US, which are capable of collecting all the chatters prior to and during the exercise to be used for future deciphering and analysis. This would have explained the earlier than expected termination of the exercise, as PLA realized this posturing inadvertently showed their hands to the opposing side and put them at a disadvantage in future confrontations. Unlike the Russo-Ukrainian war which Ukraine never dared directly strike and eliminate Russian missile bases outside of their border, Taiwan's strategy is all about the early elimination of the sources.
