Is the DF Goblin V2 a CHEAP SUPERCAR?

DF Kit Car has been around for a decade- and their Chevy Cobalt -based component car, called the DF Goblin, has become popular in the niche community of affordable exo cart building. But for 2025, the Texas manufacturer introduced a new kit, called the Goblin V2. Instead of using an outdated Cobalt donor, the Goblin V2 will take its internals from the mk7 Volkswagen Golf- and potentially other cheap sports cars in the future. Is this the new best cheap supercar slayer?

I built an Exocet race version for $17k and it weighed 1545lbs so the Goblin is pretty competitive. I like the looks of the Goblin better but I would want to know more about the suspension design and geometry since it is changed so much from a donor car. Choosing Golf and other donors is smart as Cobalts are getting rarer especially the SS versions.

I would like to see them offer a V2 kit with a DIY option for the powertrain. They post the open dimensions, and I fabricate mounts and whatnot for the powertrain I elect to use.

I can't imagine it would be hard to adapt just about any FWD i4 motor to this frame. It's like a sporty dune buggy from the 70s made for and I really really really really want one.

Set it up easy to configure for whatever power trane is available and have a money making hit on your hands. Iv got a liter bike engine, because sequential shifting is fun, and a VW Corrado G60 for donars. Im ready, hook me up.

I can't wait to see someone swap a TDI donor into this....

Great news, V1 was a great kit, but the doner car was nowhere to be found.

1600 lbs? Throw a Gsxr 1300 turbo in it. That will get you to light speed fairly quickly

i wonder if a motorcycle engine would be good or maybe a boxer motor

If they really went budget should go motorcycle motor. I litter bike would put out 200hp and could be bought for 3k on the cheap

All the specs add up to a really great performing little car, BUT it is so ugly I just have to keep reminding myself that form follows function. I hope they get a good number of sales as there aren't enough places that are offering this sort of thing, re: relatively cheap kit with easy assembly to come up with a potent little canyon racer.
