EBC Brakes and EBC Brakes Racing have joined forces to bring you the ultimate stock vs aftermarket brake test.

It’s common belief that upgrading to aftermarket pads on a vehicle improves the braking performance… but how much of a difference does it actually make?

In this series, with the help of some state-of-the-art data logging equipment and a professional racing driver, we set out to answer that very question.

CAR AND PARTS TESTED:
Ford Fiesta ST (Mk7) – Stock brakes vs EBC Yellowstuff pads and EBC USR rotors

(Please note: In order to ensure a level playing field, all brakes were bedded-in as matched sets and using the same bedding-in process before the test day. To reduce pedal flex and prevent the fluid boiling, the Ford was also fitted with EBC’s stainless braided brake lines and bled with EBC’s BF307+ Super DOT 4 racing brake fluid. Finally the car was fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres).

THE AMS TEST:
The AMS Brake Test is a stringent, industry-standard braking test procedure that comprises a series of back-to-back, maximum-performance stops from 60mph. These stops are performed while the car is loaded up with ballast to bring it to its Gross Vehicle Weight.

To ensure the car’s brakes really got up to temperature, we decided to double these tests, meaning 20 stops were performed with each brake setup rather than the usual 10.

We then analysed all of the data collected, which can be seen towards the end of the video.

THE SERIES:
Be sure to hit Subscribe as EBC brings you detailed footage from each test in the coming weeks as part of what we believe is the most comprehensive and transparent brake test ever shown to the public…

Is there a way to see the results at the end of the video? They are hidden by annoying suggested videos.

I've used Yellow on my previous GLE AMG63s and my current X5M. Outstanding performance

So the data shows the oe disc and pad setup has a lower average stopping distance and a lower average braking time. It might be worth testing the ebc pads with just oe discs so you can compare a selection of pads before testing a variety of discs as well. Great work though guys, I'll keep up to date in your social media

I need to get a new set for the front of my car. Had Yellowstuff and loved them. Covid happened and I just fitted some Brembo OE replacement ones and now apparently I have warped disks. Not sure if the disks are actually warped or if its due to the different pads, and some pad transfer causing an issue.

Awesome pads, I run them in my Focus and would never get anything else!

Nice comprehensive test. I currently have (and love) Forza Brakes FP3 pads up front and upgraded discs. My Fiesta ST is a daily driver and I enjoy a few track days per year. What is your equivalent pad to the Forza FP3? Also were the OE pads and discs brand new when you started the test? Was proper bessing in processes followed for OE and Yellow Stuff prior to testing?

So the water doesn’t have a cooling affect on the brakes? I guess its sort of a comparison.
