.............................................................

This is the all-American Ford Mustang Mach 1, and Mat’s about to find out if it really is THE must-have sports coupe in 2022!

Kicking off with the exterior design, there’s no mistaking the Mach 1 for anything other than a Mustang. This edition comes with a few upgrades over the standard GT version, including quad tailpipes as standard, while you’ll also find a rear diffuser around the back and a front splitter up top.

Once you step inside, you’ll find a digital driver's display along with an okay-sized infotainment screen… Although it doesn’t come with sat-nav! Thankfully it does at least have Apple CarPlay & Android Auto.

And naturally, you know with it being a Mustang, you’ll find something special under the bonnet… A naturally-aspirated 5-litre V8! What’s more, this has been tuned to kick out 460hp - 10hp more than the GT!

So what do you think - is this the must-have sports coupe of 2022? You’ll need to stick with Mat to find out!

1:33 Those blacked-out circular bits are receptacles for a grille-mounted fog lights of your choice, a throwback to the original '69 Mustang Mach 1 with its distinctive grille-mounted round lights. It was meant for you to add it as an aftermarket modification.

EDIT: Upon research, the 1969 Mustang Mach 1's "inboard" grille lights are actually separate high beams as the comments suggested (compared to the 1970 Mach 1 with combined low & high beam headlights mounted in the grille where the '69 Mach 1's high beams once where, and "sport lights" as compliments). Ford probably decided to make it into fog lights simply because there's no need for separate high beams in 2022, while paying homage to the '69 Mach 1's distinctive front end design. It could also be turbo intakes/air ducts if the owner wants to, hence the aftermarket approach by Ford. That'll be cool to see.

During the 0-60 mph trial, anyone who drives a manual gearbox can easily get that Mat has been releasing the clutch quicker than it is supposed to. So the time was getting better not because the rear tires were warming up but Mat was getting used to the clutch. There is no shame in that though. We all have converted to automatic cars over the past years and it is sort of confusing for all of us from time to time. So Mustang being Mustang, a great-looking car with a naturally aspirated engine. Yes, there are better-performing cars but Mustang will always be the dream car for most of us.

Luckily, the standard GT is available with a 6 speed manual here in Australia. Sat Nav and radar cruise are standard. I drive mine in the city and urban. You can use 3rd gear much of the time because its so flexible. Its not perfect of course, but its a lot of bang for the $.

The reason for the mode switches only toggling upwards is a safety feature. You could easily either by your hand or dropping something during driving accidently land on the toggle and push it down changing modes which is not helpful or safe when in mid drive. Therefore they only toggle upwards. There could be better ways of doing it (lock mode when car is not idle) but still, it's fine.

These circles at the front grille are spots to install round fog lights of your choice (as an homage to the original Mustang Mach 1 from 1969).
Greetings✌️

A classic Mustang, the real "Pony" car. I was 9 years old when the original Mustang was introduced, so it's been around my whole life and I'm glad to see it still produced (unlike the sad demise of another Ford, the Thunderbird). Just a comment, while Ford spent some time and money to produce attractive rear seats on the Mustang, they have NEVER provided practical seating for adult passengers. I had a Mustang for a while in college and used the backseat mainly for carrying luggage and packages. It's really meant to function as a two-seater personal sports car (though the closest most here in the States come to a raceway is an Interstate Highway); most only see use around town or on state highways.

Best part of the video was the revving and an equally enthusiastic mat enjoying it, I mean that engine sound is an orchestra to any motorhead! 😎

Well done to Ford for actually letting you hear the engine

I have a GT and the best way to get a better turning circle is to fully lock and push the acceleration quote aggressively and it swings the backend round nicely. 😉 It has great throttle control.

ford still holds the title for "budget" power when it comes to delivery to the road, and their chassis is getting pretty darn respectable too. Magnaride should always be a checked option, and when it is these are a very fun force to be reckoned with. Rear end is due for a slight redesign/update though.

Middle console: Only reason why bottle was in the way (6:50) is your RHD (Right had drive) version of car. As production have to be cheaper they have just one design for console in car. In LHD ( Left hand drive) you will have next to you hand brake and then cup holder .. so gear shifter will be free for catch(maybe not exactly free but easier to catch).
