I could listen to Tim all night. Very interesting stuff. Thank you. And then to hear the mention of Cecil Wasington (or Joe Matthews as I knew it). What a record. I used to love hearing those backing vocals echoing round the main room at Wigan. Worth the trip from London just for that.

I remember Tim from his and mine very early days, when Tim use to accompany Ginger Taylor to the British Legion at Accrington. That was a very, very long time ago. Tim had already started collecting then, so not surprised he has amassed a collection in excess of 30, 000 records. Great interview Kev. From your hometown of Wirksworth.

I enjoyed that interview. The tragedy about Frank Wilson is that to my knowledge, he wasn't asked about his wife's demos. They to me would have been the real treasure. I've only heard one.

Did anyone, as I did, get boxes of records mail order from Blues and soul magazine in the early seventies? One didn't know what they were gonna be? Just for, a very little price, 10 different singles imported from the US. I got some classics for next to nothing🙂

The O Jays 'Deeper in love' was and still is a great record. Way better than Frank Wilson.

Why were records ordered to be destroyed?

Big regret not buying FW for £300/£500 in 1981. Borrowed it off Soul Sam via Jonathan in Nottingham. Took it home with 2 others, one of which was the Cautions on Shrine. Bit fed up with FW at the time, so I bought the Cautions!! A few weeks later I was offered the Inspirations on Breakthrough for £100 off Arthur fenn but couldn't afford it so refused. Think it went to Richard Gilly Gilbert. Hey ho!
