Beast, from 'Beauty and the Beast', my favorite Disney movie from the Disney Renaissance Era.
The model stands about 60cm tall and it was quite a task detailing it. My primary goal when sculpting existing characters is to get the 'likeness' right. Knowing the character so well (I have watched every documentary piece available on the design process of the Beast) I am very pleased with how it turned out. It is so hard to create a 3D model out of a 2D design. I used official merchandise, figurines and dolls as reference, it really helped a lot. However, none of that material had the expression that I wished to capture. Beast is a sad character with moments of extreme rage. I find that looking at my sculpture from the side, his face has that sad,lost expression. But looking at it from the front, with the way the eyebrows come down, the expression turns angry.

This only a short clip taken from a video presentation I am working on. Hope you enjoy this as much I enjoyed sculpting this character.

The music in the background is a cover version of the 'Prologue' from the movie which I composed in Nuendo using Symphobia plugins. I made a few changes to fit the video transitions.
