Portra 160 Film vs Film Simulation - How Close Are They?

in this video i decide to compare the portra 160 film stock to a portra 160 film simulation made by fujixweekly. this video was made for entertainment purposes and not as a scientific comparison, so take this comparison with a grain of salt as film scans are not always accurate. i hope you guys enjoy this video as much as i did!

Portra film stock is so so so beautiful in natural way, i loved the color it’s close to reality colors, thank you for sharing this amazing film

3:13 was the closest. sometimes the greens are off but everything else mostly is spot on with the exception of highlights. BEST recipe so far from them and the closest to film yet.

I think you would get a more pure look if a ircut filter was applied. I used that on my cameras and it prevents the reddish/yellow shift you mentioned. Digital sensors bleed infrared light into photos. I use Hoya Ircut. I thought the simulation was pretty good though.

Nice work. Videos likes this are helpful as I create presets for the Filmist system. Comparing my own scans to others.

I'd love to have some of the same scenes from a digital and a film file to do testing on so I can further refine my Portra Emulsiuons. I'd be happy to trade you for some products.

The recipe gets pretty close to the film. To my eyes, the recipe is a bit more yellow. Also, the contrast overal is a bit higher on the recipe compared to the film. Perhaps there is a way to "fix" the recipe, but, overall, i think it also looks great as it is. Thanks for the video, very helpful

In the simulation, the greens looked more burnt and muddy, the film is better
