1973 Celica Restoration (the $150 parts car) part 1

This Is part One of my current restoration project. The car is a 1973 Toyota celica that I purchased for $150 The first time I saw one of these was in a junk yard looking for parts for a different car I was working on. There was not much left of that car at the wrecker but enough of it there to know I liked what I saw. So over the next ten years I looked locally to find one of these classic celicas. I ended up with a pair of Celica's, one came from 20 minutes away in the next town. I started to work on the first car when a friend sent me a kijiji link for this car In the video I intended to use it for parts assuming it would be in worse shape than my first one. I was surprised to see it was more solid than my current project. So it became the car that I would work on. It had no title as it came from an estate sale of a hoarder. The previous owner who accuired the estate property was awesome and got me a title made up for the car. Follow along with this part one video which consists of metal fabrication and parts sourcing and the first drive/start. I will up date the project as more stuff happens on it.

WOW! That much fabrication screams "MERCY AND HONOR FOR NEARLY A GONNER !". Excellent effort. Remarkable work. Outstanding footage too.

Simply beautiful, the time and effort is amazing. I just purchased a 76 gt liftback for $100 and will need the exact metal work you are doing. I was going to sell it but this gives me great hope. Keep it up

If I could subscribe more than once I would, great work, and all without music or comment, perfect, at least for me. The first generation Celica is one of my favorites.

WOW!  That brings back memories.  I had a 74 Celica GT in High School and College.  Same bumperettes, GT emblem on honeycomb grill, 3D version of the taillights compared to the flat version that you installed. Very, very cool!  Thanks for sharing and looking forward to watching the other parts to this build.

Part 2 ?? I am proud of your efforts and excited in your Mastery that only comes from trial and error to trial and SUCCESS... !! Forget the Naysayers they are busy sitting on their dead @@$$es being sideline quarterbacks never having attempted Anything !! ( Which in my opinion is the ultimate FAIL !) I was given a ratty ole '73 in 1984 as a wedding gift and proceeded to strip it to the bones and restore to better than New ( Custom Deluxe !! ) Keep going and fill us all in please ... Thanks

good bending quality but not good welding. you leave too much welding bubbles inside them those will rust certainly. you should have choose another welding method on there like tig welding maybe. and you should clean the welding surfaces. Also this car is a lot of work. its too rusty. you cut the parts but i didnt see any supports for not losing the structure of the car. you just cut them and replace them.
