New YouTube Update - Easy Way to Removing Copyright Claims

YouTube has recently pushed a big update for a big problem many creators have issues with and, for once, I can't think of anything negative to say about it! Do you?

I participated in beta testing for this feature and encountered some glitches, which I reported. The most common issue was repetitive audio; for example, if the background music exceeded 30 seconds, it would cause the audio to repeat for the rest of the video. Additionally, there were frequent instances where the audio would muffle the words, making them sound robotic. I hope these issues have been resolved now.

I actually love this update. It's gonna help a lot with copyrighted music. Now all we need is an age restriction update to where it gives us the section that's age restricted and let's us cut out that section or blur whatever youtube doesn't like so we can be able to actually follow the rules without making more mistakes due to not knowing what age restricted our videos. I haven't been age restricted yet thank goodness, but if they could add an update where we can cut/blur out anything that youtube age restricts in our videos to fix our mistakes then I think we're set. I applaud youtube for this copyright update. Helps us creators tremendously!

YouTube should also check and inform creators of their videos violate any of their policies immediately. It's so frustrating after spending years trying to get monetized only to be told your channel or video violated a policy after hitting the requirements. That so discouraging

Erase song option is awesome. Already used it in old video right after update as it was background music in a speech audio that was in public domain and free for commercial use but the song brought video copyright claim.

I've got a video from last year that's blocked in some countries because of copyrighted material; this update could be a hell of a first aid patch for it. I'll have to try it out.

Great update! I’ve only been copyrighted in other regions (Russia, China) so it’s not very extreme, but the feedback is helpful to improve content moving forward. This feature will assist with that.

Wish IG would implement the same policy. A popular song (Funny Song) in my niche (family friendly dog videos) was removed from the platform entirely. Now all the reels I posted with that song have no audio whatsoever. They will let you replace the song with another, but they clearly state the original speaking audio will be overwritten. This is devastating for a channel/account that showcases a ‘talking’ dog! And gives the appearance that I/creators are uploading footage with no audio. With over 500 vids posted, now nearly half of them have no audio whatsoever on IG! 😫

Glad YT is addressing this issue for the betterment of helping creators improve content!

Thanks for the review of this feature. To me personally - it does destroy the quality of audio quite seriously… I would rather spend time to re-edit and re-upload the video without the copyrighted song

AND, when you use the Erase Song feature YouTube won’t degrade your video. For example, if your video was 4K HDR, it will remain 4K HDR after it is applied. This will definitely save time having to re-edit, re-upload and wait for YouTube to fully process the video in HDR for channels that upload HDR content. 🙌

I could hear something was off with the audio from your usual videos but it wasn't horrible. I think it could be a useful tool especially if you are filming at events and theres music in the background.

I would just re-render. Audio quality is important… it trumps loading schedule.

yeah this is a game changer, i stream/record where copyright could hurt my video im intrigued to see how this works in the future for my video/stream, we all try are best not to have music in are video/streams but sometimes there's no way to avoid it so maybe this can/could help us with this, thanks for posting this didn't know this was a new update till now

Well done! That was a good example that everyone can understand! The tech behind it is not new, the YT implementation is. For many years, we could almost do that even with the pre-Atmos era of home cinema amplifiers, or PC software. It's a combination of psychoacoustics and frequency removal. Being a video editor by profession, I have a bold suggestion to make: Why doesn't Google allow us to export a mixed audio video but with separate audio channels? Please hear me out, as this could have two benefits: First, you could use the online editor to remove and replace the audio segment in dispute. Secondly, Google could use its AI magic to audio translate and narrate the vocals to another language, like they promised they would do in the future. I come from the Broadcast TV era of Betacam analogue videos where we used to get four split audio channels to dub original audio, that's why I understand how easy that could be. There is a drawback though. Such a thing might give an advantage to those who know how to edit and export split audio.

Very good update! It's just unacceptable a music creator gets 100% of your ad revenue for just 15 secs of music in your 15 minute video. I hope they will get much less stolen ad revenue with this feature.
